Coffee Union

Walked past Coffee Union earlier today to find it was closed and people were removing things from it. Turns out that last night they let the staff go and the company has gone into liquidation. Horrible time for it. Fired with less than two weeks to Xmas. I’ve been going there off and on for 10 years since I was in uni. We used to go there and study. They did a great vanilla latte and a great iced one in summer. Going to be missed.

  1. You’re right, that really sucks. Shame they couldn’t find the funds to get through Christmas at least.

    Nice bit of photojournalism Pete.

  2. A*se! Tom made the best coffee’s in the ‘Pool! Being an espresso snob myself… will be dearly missed…

  3. That’s a great shame

  4. I don’t know anything about Coffee Union so forgive me if any of this is wrong.

If the cafe was indeed in trouble and not managing to stay afloat, surely one of the things they could have done would be to actually inform the public of their troubles and get more people to support them, drinking there instead of say, Starbucks. Just some sort of campaign to rally people. But, I’ve heard nothing about this so I can only assume that there was nothing.

    Just a thought.

As for the photo itself, it’s fantastic. I love the natural transition of Bold Street and the shop interior. Excellent.

  5. Great B&W! I’m learning how Photoshop now (on my own) and I want to be able to convert some of my color photos to B&W. Ashame about the coffee shop.
