Rioting again in Liverpool last night. More burnt out cars, smashed windows and a community worried about whether there would be a 3rd night of incidents. I spent a few hours walking around Smithdown Road, Lawrence Road and Lodge Lane. I saw lots of people helping clean up the area. It really is great to see them helping out. The difference between the area in the day time and the night is literally as different as night and day. By day the community sticks together and cleans up. By night a bunch of idiots who probably don’t live around Toxteth turn up and trash the place simply because they can.

Even at 10am some cars were still on fire. The fire brigade had a very tough night as some of their vehicles had been attacked. You have to respect them all for helping the community.

Joao Evans, soon to be 60. She lives right next to the car that was burnt out. She told me that rioters were standing in her garden trying to break the wall to use as ammo against the police.

Vahir Hasan is a local shop owner. His shop was broken into and over £6,000 worth of stock was stolen. A new shutter has just been installed after the previous one was ripped open. Mr Hasan told me that there was nothing he could do. He stayed to look after the store but what could he really do?

Another street and two more burnt out cars. A woman told me that a 10 year old did this. A 10 year old set fire to this car in full view of every house in the street.
