This is the first year I’ve photographed Liverpool Sound City. It’s been a blast so far and there’s still 2 nights to go! 99% of the shots I took were on the X100s too. Really put it through its paces and it just blew me away.
I started off with Taylor Fowlis in the Garage, then saw Super Luxury at Screenadelica. Both ace. Off to the Kazimier Gardens to see Kaya and the Science of Lamps. Lovely venue and a lovely band. Reminded me of kerts in Budapest. Back to the Liverpool Academy of Arts for Broken Men and through to the Garage for Esco Williams. He is awesome live. First time I’ve seen him. Great performer. From there I headed up to the Anglican Cathedral for Noah and the Whale. I’ve never been to a gig at the cathedral. It was incredible. Such a space! Noah and the Whale were great too. I wandered back to the Garage for Bipolar Sunshine. and then bumped into Findlay. Of all the groups I saw these were my favourite. Great energy. Really enjoyed their music and a joy to photograph. After that I stuck around Screenadelica for Black Moth who were very cool to photograph. Not my sorta music but visually good fun. My final stop was the Epstein Theatre for Stealing Sheep. Nice band, big space.
Considering I made my plan at around 7pm that night and had a huge variety of bands to see I did pretty well. Everyone I saw was hugely fun to photograph and listen to. Rock on night 2.
