The hottest day of the year, and also the hottest day since 2006 according to the BBC Weatherman. I was in London for 2 days to do a bit of street photography. Trying to work in that heat was hard going. We walked around Brick Lane, Spitalfields Market, Oxford Circus and roads around Regents Park. I was looking forward to getting stuck in around Brick Lane but found it was really too quiet. Wandering a bit further on and we encountered a great area for street portraits near Banksy’s work, just off Brick Lane. Still, not too many interesting moments though. That’s the way street photography goes sometimes… most times 😉 I shot these mostly on manual focus using the GF1. Using manual focus on the GF1 isn’t bad, but the lens really isn’t designed for it like the Leica’s are. You have to pick a spot to prefocus on and then set it to manual, otherwise its just too slow as it has to focus then take the shot. I much prefer the Leica for street which is why I spent the 2nd day in Camden Town using just the Leica.
