I was invited, not as a photographer but just as myself, to attend the VIP opening of the new Museum of Liverpool. It’s something I still can’t quite get my head around, especially after meeting some of the other guests. Ken Dodd, Yoko Ono, Levi Tafari, John Conteh, and Alexi Sayle to name a few. Sure I’ve been working with the museum for a number of years to license various photos for use in the museum, but these guys have spent decades doing what they do best. I was honoured and humbled to be there. Meeting Ken Dodd was definitely a highlight. A gent and a hilariously funny man.

I just want to congratulate everyone at National Museums Liverpool for their success with the Museum of Liverpool. It’s a stunning building, an incredibly polished museum and simply a joy to walk around. Outside of the Beatles Rockband style booth, I didn’t spot anything that felt cliched or stereotypical of Liverpool. It’s a great honest view of the city through the ages. Loved it.
