The Open Eye Gallery has officially re-opened at its new home next door to the Museum of Liverpool. It seems that all the cool kids are moving to the rivers edge for nice waterfront views. I don’t blame them. Who wouldn’t want to be between the 3 Graces and the Albert Dock. It’s great to be able to say “It’s just next to the Museum of Liverpool. You can’t miss it.”

The new gallery is fantastic. It’s beautifully designed. There’s a little shop area selling very cool t-shirts. One says “Develop. Stop. Fix.” They also sell Polaroid cameras. My credit card was grateful that I already have a good collection. That said, they do sell Impossible film. Before I’ve even looked at the photography I’m already smitten with the new gallery.

So to open with they have Mitch Epstein and Chris Steele-Perkins exhibiting. You must go see their work. Epstein’s is epic in size and detail, and Steele-Perkins is simply very funny.

The entire relaunch of the Open Eye Gallery is just brilliant. I love their new design work, website, photography and gallery. It’s great to have a place this good here on Merseyside. I love that I don’t have to go to London. Now comes good sailing.
