Last week I was at the launch of the ‘Remember Saro-Wiwa’ 3 day event at Albert Dock. Music was provided by Liverpool’s Hope Collective who are pictured here by the Living Memorial. The Living Memorial is a hand built 12ft high by 18ft long Nigerian steel Bus by Sokari Douglas-Camp, with a quote from Ken Saro-Wiwa on it. “I accuse the oil companies of practising genocide against the Ogoni.” Ken Saro-Wiwa was executed along with 8 others on the 10th November 1995 following their campaign to stop the environmental devastation of the Ogoni area of the Niger Delta.
In other news, its Shoot Liverpool this weekend. Basically you run around Liverpool over a period of a few hours and take photos based on clues. You’re in teams of 2-4 and its such fun working out the clues and trying to come up with winning photos without relying on image processing. Its all about the moment, the idea. You can use image styles on your camera, like b&w. I’m doing the Sunday run. "The theme is SENSES, let us fill your imagination with the sights, sounds and smells of ‘the pool’." BUY TICKETS £12 each – call the Tate box office on 0151 702 7400. You can pay on the day but you need to prebook. The winning pics will be displayed at the Tate, which is pretty cool.

Nice effect from the sun Pete. There’s also a memorial somewhere in London, in the shape of a bus, but I haven’t seen it yet.
I remember meeting the man briefly, when I was about 9 or 10 (my father was housemaster to his youngest son, who tragically died whilst playing sport at school)
Quite right, lovely image
This is a good shot, the obvious appeal are the streaks of light, that add that extra ingredient to the shot.
