I found this on some random building in Liverpool, just off Water Street. I think its the Barclays Bank building. It is of course the classic iconic figure of a Liver bird. Last night I went to see a presentation on the forthcoming “Liverpool 1.” The plans are impressive and the site will look very nice when completed. It looks like there are restaurants built right into the side of the park, like a Hobbits house. The car park runs underneath the park. You’ll be able to go through the old HMV store and gain access to the new shopping areas via a lovely looking arcade. It all looks stunning. Then they tell you that the shops will be open by around May 2008 but the park won’t be open till *after* summer 2008. After? We’ll have the Matthew Street Festival and the River Festival where people always hang out at Chavasse Park. It seems it will still be a construction site during that time. I don’t know what’s caused the hold ups but its a shame. Still, the Liver birds are still here so there is still hope that Liverpool 1 will be a success and that the regeneration work will be a positive boost for the city. It was also nice to bump into Ian from Art in Liverpool and to meet Stuart from Feeling Listless, who has posted a more thorough review of last nights presentation.
